The choreography of a same-day delivery is invisible to the family who orders but exact in execution. Below is what happens between the moment you confirm a brief and the moment the tribute is placed.

0–10 minutes after confirmation. The brief is reviewed by the florist whose studio sits closest to the delivery address. Palette, scale and timing are confirmed in writing; if anything is ambiguous (a bloom out of season, a chapel with unusual access, a service time too tight for our standard cut-off), we write back to clarify before composition begins.

30 minutes to two hours. The piece is composed by hand. Casket sprays and large standing pieces are built on bio-based foam frames sealed against weather; hand-tied bouquets are bound with natural ribbon. The hand-written card is attached, the cellophane omitted (we do not wrap funeral tributes in cellophane — it reads as commercial), and the piece is cradled in a delivery box rather than a transit case so that none of the blooms shift in transit.

30–60 minutes before the service. The florist who composed the piece carries it to the venue — by foot, by car or by van depending on scale and zone. Unbranded packaging, no uniform, no clipboard. At the funeral home or chapel of rest, the piece is handed to the funeral director for placement; at a graveside, our florist liaises with the cemetery office and places the tribute at the plot in coordination with the running order.

Within an hour of placement. A single discreet photograph of the tribute in place is sent to the person who ordered — only if explicitly requested. The photograph is of the flowers alone, never of the family, the casket or mourners. For international clients ordering from abroad, this photograph is often the closest they will come to being there.

Most funeral deliveries are routine: a wreath to a chapel, a basket to a family home, a casket spray to a crematorium. A meaningful share are not. Below are the situations our florists field weekly that require coordination beyond the standard workflow.

Same-day urgent (under three hours). For services later the same day, our on-call florist composes from 05:00 the morning of the service. The pieces we accept on this timeline are restricted — a wreath in white roses, a hand-tied bouquet, a small standing piece — but the delivery is reliable. Letter tributes (MUM, DAD) and large casket sprays require longer lead times.

Multi-stage deliveries. For families coordinating a tribute at the chapel of rest plus the principal piece for the service plus a hand-tied bouquet to the family home, we hold the entire commission as a single brief with co-ordinated palette and choreographed timing. One florist composes all three pieces; one florist places them at three different venues across the day.

Hospital and hospice wards. Our florists carry NHS-approved identification accepted by every London trust. We have standing arrangements with Marie Curie hospices, St Christopher's (Sydenham), the Royal Trinity Hospice (Clapham) and the major NHS palliative care wards. For ward deliveries we coordinate the time and entrance with the nursing team in advance.

Beyond the M25. Outer London and the Home Counties (Surrey, Kent, Essex, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire) are served by our partner van rota the following morning. For tributes to Heathrow, Gatwick, City Airport (rare but occasionally relevant for cremations with international relatives in transit) we deliver direct to the chapel.
